Marty Matthews is one of the best technical wrestlers currently on the IBW roster, executing his moves with perfect timing and accuracy. Marty proved all of those things by becoming the first ever IBW Midwest Champion on August 7th at the IBW's second event pinning the challenger Tommy Hill, a status that will go down in IBW history.
For the time being, Marty has focused on defending the IBW Midwest Title - a title he has held for 11 months. One of his most noteable battles came against Philip Flawless on August 23rd, 2002. Many say it was the best Midwest Title match to date, which saw Marty barely get the pin following a brutal contest. Two months later, Marty found himself facing Jordan "The Titan" Stamy. However, this match was spoiled when The Staminator came into the ring and knocked out Marty with a Facelift, allowing The Titan to gain a victory over Marty in this non-title defense.
Defeated and somewhat embarassed, Marty went into Double Crossed looking for revenge against The Staminator. Then the unthinkable happened. Both Marty Matthews and The Staminator formed an alliance, knocking out "Hot Property" Wyatt Blackford in the match causing a DQ finish, allowing Marty and The Staminator to retain their respective titles.
Now that Marty Matthews is aligned with The Staminator, he has no intension of losing the IBW Midwest Title anytime soon. Will anyone be able to dethrown Marty and capture the Midwest Title? Only time will tell.
