EDITION #2 - Monday, February 10th, 2003
- Hello everyone. Let's see, how long has it been since I did one of these? 3 months and 10 days. Oh hell, if you think about it, that isn't very long in the backyard wrestling world. Well, I guess it was pretty long but I didn't see anyone complaining about it so I will assume all is okay.
I am sure lots of you are wondering what the hell we have been up to (IBW) since we last did a show in October of 2002. Well, you are in luck! I have chosen to give you a few tidbits from behind the scenes of the IBW in the past few months and tell you what we have in store in the months to come. I guess you can call this a STATE OF THE UNION ADDRESS on the IBW.
So lets get this bad boy started shall we?
"Mr. Perfect" Curt Hennig passes away at the age of 44...
I had originally wrote up this column this past weekend but just as I was about to put it up on the site today, I found out some rather sad news. "Mr. Perfect" Curt Hennig was found dead today in his hotel room in Tampa, Florida. Not much is known at this time concerning the death but hearing this news really hit me hard. I was a huge mark for Curt Hennig as a young child and a big fan of his in-ring work, especially his stuff with Bret Hart. Whether he was in AWA, WWF, WCW, NWA TNA, it didn't matter, I enjoyed where ever he went. Mr. Hennig will truly be missed by me and many other professional wrestling fans. God speed Curt Hennig, you will truly be missed. I end this with a great quote from Mr. Hennig...
"Nobody beats Mr. Perfect AND I MEAN NOBODY!" - "Mr. Perfect" Curt Hennig (1958 - 2003)
IBW Double Crossed...when will we tape the damn thing?!
If you follow the IBW (all 30,000 of you total as of February 2003) then I am sure that is the question you have been asking for the past few months. IBW Double Crossed, our first ever Pay Per View event, was scheduled to go down in late October. Then it got pushed to November. Then it got pushed to December - this is where it gets interesting. In December of 2002, we posted on the site that we would be taping the show PLUS an additional 2-3 CORRUPTION shows. Did that happen? Yes and no. We did tape IBW Double Crossed but we were forced to do it inside in a basement instead of outside where we usually do shows. Then after watching the end result, I think I can represent everyone on the IBW Roster when I say that it was, as Mick Foley says, a stinker. We didn't want this being our first ever ONLINE show presented to the public so we decided to push the taping to a later date when the weather got warmer.
So will we tape IBW Double Crossed? Yes, we will. However, anyone with half a brain knows that it is not warm in IOWA in February. It usually starts to warm up in March around here so look for a taping to occur then and also get ready for IBW ONLINE.
Oh great, I have to wait another month for you guys?
If you want to stick around, that is great. If you don't, then come check us out in March. However, if you choose to stick around then we will be providing some very interesting stuff on the site to lead up to our official re-debut.
We plan on providing interviews with everyone who is on the IBW roster for the next 6 weeks, starting next week. This includes the following: The Staminator interview Part 3, Marty Matthews interview Part 2, Philip Flawless interview Part 2, Tommy Hill (first ever interview), "Hot Property" Wyatt Blackford (first ever interview) and Jordan "The Titan" Stamy (first ever interview). We plan on addressing many issues in these interviews, possibly making getting opinions that are bad or good. This could really start some new feuds around here so stay tuned for that!
Also, both myself and The Staminator will be attending WWE No Way Out in Montreal on February 23rd, 2003 and we will have PLENTY of pictures of the current IBW Heavyweight Champion The Staminator and the current IBW Midwest Champion Marty Matthews with many WWE superstars as we will be hanging out with them following the Pay Per View event. Stay tuned for those in about 2 weeks!
Quick/Random Thoughts from The Marty:
- Be on the look for Philip Flawless to ditch his current gimmick and go towards a new character that represents himself in true life. This should be interesting to see!
- Rumor has it that new superstar could be joining the IBW when it re-starts in March/April of 2003. The only information we can provide right now is be on the look for: DROSTE 3:16
- Rumor has it that Commissioner Schultze will be getting the boot from the IBW Powers That Be and we could see a new IBW President calling the shots around here. The only word that I got was that his last name was McMahon.
- I have 8th row seats at WWE No Way Out on February 23rd. I'll wave to you.
- We love reading your comments about the IBW on our official Message Board (CLICK HERE) so keep them coming!
- Rumor has it that Jordan "The Titan" Stamy could be ditching his current gimmick and trying something new to help increase his status in the IBW.
- Did I really just end my second edition of FROM THE INSIDE with news about Jordan "The Titan" Stamy?
Final Thoughts:
I hope you enjoyed the second edition of FROM THE INSIDE w/ Marty Matthews. I will try and keep this a more consistant thing once the IBW gets started up again in March/April of 2003.
I cannot stress enough for you guys to stick around. We see the hits we are pulling in a monthly basis. We know you guys are keeping up with our stuff. So when the weather gets warm, expect a brand new IBW show! And with IOWA weather, who knows how soon that could be...
